Liuhtari School
Lapua Town, FINLAND
* Ränkimäentie 2,
62100 Lapua, FINLAND
Liuhtari school is a Primary School near the centre of
Lapua Town mid-west Finland).
There are 130 pupils in our school. We have classes
from 1 to 6.
Our pupils are from 7 to 13 years old. They are
interested in sports ( football, ice-hockey, Finnish baseball, downhill skiing)
music and art. Good facilities in the town make it possible to enjoy these
hobbies.
We have 6 classes and 6 class teachers. In addition
there are a special needs teacher, a
teacher for English and Swedish classes and one extra class teacher working in
three different schools.
To our staff belong also one caretaker, one cleaning
lady and one dinner lady.
A school nurse visits once a week.
Nature conservation ; sustainable development has been
close to our hearts for
years. Every age group gets a good amount of knowledge
on how to keep our
environment clean. There are regular activities to put
this knowledge into practice. The whole staff is committed to this.
We belong to a network of schools which have linkages with a few schools in Louth. We are also looking for a primary school in Dundalk for friendly exchanges.
The current pupils in the 3rd class (9-10 yr
olds) with their class teacher Katri Ruotsalainen, are interested to begin
communications with pupils of the same age. There are 21 pupils in this class.
We would like to exchange post cards / letters / emails
We would be glad to make together an
introductory package on our schools, towns and cultures and exchange this.
